KING OF PRUSSIA, Pa., October 1, 2013 /PRNewswire/ – HealthQx has been awarded a five-year, multi-million-dollar contract by TriWest Health Alliance. Employing its CareQx Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) solution, HealthQx will help TriWest Care Managers direct veterans to the most appropriate specialists in the TriWest physician network.
TriWest recently won the contract from the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to administer the VA Patient-Centered Community Care (VAPCCC) that serves veterans in 28 states and territories in the Pacific…nearly half of the eligible veteran population. The VA estimates the total value of the contract at $4.3 billion.
“We did an exhaustive search for the company best equipped to analyze big healthcare data, and deliver quality and cost ratings for providers,” explained David Brooks, TriWest Vice President, Data Management. “The HealthQx cloud-based solution was the clear choice to support our mission to direct veterans to top-tier specialty physicians at the best price.” Brooks said. “Additionally, their CareQx solution will aid our management in identifying top-quality physicians to be included in our network as needed,” Brooks added.
According to Mark McAdoo, CEO of King of Prussia, Pennsylvania-based HealthQx, “TriWest Care Managers will be able to search for the best specialty physicians and hospitals by specialty type, treatment type, location and demographics based on peer-to-peer quality and cost-efficiency ratings and benchmarks.
“This is an incredible opportunity for our company to support an organization that serves the healthcare needs of the veterans of America so well,” Bill Conlan, HealthQx COO, concluded.
TriWest is comprised of 16 not-for-profit health plans and two university health systems that provide access to high-quality healthcare and customer service to active Service members, veterans and their families.
HealthQx specializes in data analytics and decision support software to bring transparency to the healthcare industry. The company measures healthcare values market-by-market, scoring physicians and hospitals compared to their peers on quality and cost-efficiency – all in an effort to help patients and their physicians find quality care at the most affordable price.
The company’s CareQx solution delivers analysis on quality and cost ratings of physicians and hospitals nationwide. This valuable utilization of big healthcare data can help health plans, self-insured employers, health systems – particularly Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs) – and patients, who are the ultimate users of healthcare services, make informed decisions.
